The Nilgiris district, also known as the "Queen of Hills," is a picturesque region in Tamil Nadu, India.
Philomena’s Abode is managed by Philomena Rani and Paul Vincent, following Vincent's retirement from the tea industry. Naturally extroverted and a fun-loving couple, they opened their home to travelers from busy cities and for corporate employees seeking a peaceful retreat.
With over 60 years of roots in Coonoor, they provide a home-away-from-home experience with traditional South Indian hospitality.
The Homestay is located on a local road, just above Jagathala Village and off the highway to Ooty. Philomena’s Abode oversees a green valley with a gorgeous view of the green hills and deep blue skies. Wake up to chirping birds and dew-kissed flowers.
The large terrace is perfect for enjoying the view of sunlit tea gardens while you sip on steaming hot cups of ginger tea, read a book, paint or just watch the clouds float by as you sunbathe in the warm, golden sunlight.
In the evenings, watch the clouds roll in as they usher the sun to bed.
Enjoy Philomena and Vincent’s gorgeous terrace with a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains.
The terrace provides a gorgeous backdrop for photography, both candid and group.
Nature lovers can watch out for local birds flitting among the trees, monkeys frolicking among the tea plantations and trees and the wild bison traversing the tea estates and forests as they go about their day.
Watch the heavens come alive with twinkling stars, as darkness sets in. Astronomy enthusiasts can enjoy views of the Milky way and planets, star-gaze and identify the various constellations.
Light up a bonfire and enjoy the nocturnal world’s enchanting sounds.
Fire up the barbecue and swap adventure stories over delicious, smoky, food.
